Seismic vulnerability assessment of an arched railway bridge with nine masonry spans on Nure torrent, in Pontenure municipality, in Piacenza district.
The railway bridge has a length of 126,5 m, with spans and pylons in masonry coated with bricks.

Calculations and seismic vulnerability analysis have been made on the arched railway masonry bridge on Nure torrent, of the railway line Bologna-Milano, in order to formulate the opinion about the seismic vulnerability assessment Ante Operam thereof.
The analysed item is an arched railway bridge in Pontenure municipality, in Piacenza district.
The seismic vulnerability is defined as the propensity of items to undergo changes as a result of the earthquake.
This measure allows to evaluate, together with the seismic exposition and danger, the seismic vulnerability of a site.
The arched railway bridge analysed is a masonry infrastructure with nine spans, with full brick arched masonry decks, with a span of 12 m for a total length of 126,5 m, with spans and pylons in masonry coated with bricks.
The height from the ground level to the centre of the vault is variable, from 4 m for the lateral spans, to 6 m for the five central spans.
The pylons are perpendicular to the river-bed, that has a cemented bottom.
Through scrupulous engineering analysis, realized with the help of exceptional analysis and modelling software, it is possible to conclude that the arched railway bridge analysed is suitable to support seismic actions defined by NTC 2018, because it presents the minimum risk index major to 1.00.
