Final and executive project of the pedestrian walkway for the enhance and the improvement of the accessibility for the passengers that use the “Rent a Car” (RAC) service, from Terminal zone.
The project is situated in Fiumicino airport landside zone and involves the construction of a corridor for the passengers RAC user’s that, through a link with the Hilton, are directed to the RAC acceptance service, that will be in the airport office building 3 (EPUA 3).
The main objective of the project is to link the new office building first floor with the second level above ground of the existing multi-storey parking, through a closed pedestrian bridge, structurally independent from both the linked buildings.
The pedestrian bridge architectural concept is the same adopted for the nearby building EPUA 3, re-proposing sinuous forms, by employing the same structural materials, that are the steel and the reinforced concrete, and adopting technological coatings material.
The projected walkaway allows to complete the pedestrian connection for the passengers directed from the Terminal and from the Hilton hotel, to the RAC client’s acceptation areas, that will be in the new office building, and allows another access to the workers of the future building EPUA 3.
The pedestrian walkaway architecture is characterized with sinuous and fluid forms, visible in the walkaway and in the inclined pillars that support it.
The coating materials are highly technological: for the upper side of the walkaway has been used composite aluminium panels “Alucobond” type, for the pillars coating has been use composite materials with antiromb insulation.
The glassed portion are realized with a continuous facade system with sealed joint, in order to ensure the visual continuity of the surface.
The walkaway has a linear development of 26.29 m, an external size in section of 5.11 m of height for 5.63m of width.
